That Rainbow Bridge

Marion Hopkins and CH Mr Muldoon

Marion and two of her beloved IWS

Marion Hopkins age 88

Sad news this time. Marion Hopkins, the Alpha of the Mallyree Kennels family, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. She died Wednesday, January 27Th. She was able to maintain her home, living independently until Tuesday, January 26Th, with her wonderful Irish Water Spaniel, Emma, and her princess Maine Coon Cat, Miss P. Mallyree Kennels will go on, but it will never be the same.
Plans for a celebration of her life are in the works for late spring or early summer - a true dog and family friendly party in her honor. We will keep you in the loop as far as plans go. Marion will be buried next to her husband and her mother in St. Ann's Episcopal Church's cemetery in Sayville, New York.

  1. Like so many, I've been very fortunate to fall in love with Mallyree Irish Water Spaniels. Many, many fond memories surround her candor while watching judging at dog shows, her attitude in assessing her puppies and her unquestioned adoration of these crazy dogs. She seemed an indefatigable power, one that would be so independent in her determination to have the dogs that it was surprising sometimes to hear of the challenges she'd faced to have Mallyree Kennels. Like the dogs she loved, she wasn't always the easiest personality but she sure was charming in her complexities. Pam, your mom had such faith in you and is so proud of you. Everytime she spoke of you it was with such high regard. I think you know, of all people, that she wasn't that easily impressed! My love to all of you in getting through this. - Julie Hensley
